ABOUT US

The management of the family Rocchi takes the legacy from "Bruschetteria Antico Frantoio"
that for over twenty years has served tourists and loyal customers,
with national and international awards for the quality service in value.

Sandro ROCCHI and Maria Teresa PRIMI

Bonaventura Tecchi, Italian essayist and novelist, born in this area,
in his famous poem wrote: "I said to see older people in the country, which at the end
of the day around evening, came at council, as many many centuries ago perhaps even at the time
the Etruscans and the Romans".The story that binds the family Rocchi with
Civita di Bagnoregio start from here, when the streets and squares of this etruscan village
were full of noisy kids, tired farmers and skilled artisans that at the end of a long working day
they met together in the central square in front of the church to greet the sun with a good glass of wine.

WHY
ALMA CIVITA

Through an extraordinary architecture project my sister Alessandra managed to give
new light and new voice to a timeless place, remained silent for many centuries.

In this context that our idea has taken shape and we started
this new project, tell and pass on our history and our
traditions, through an excellent offer of food and wine, set in a relief historic location
combined with a professional service.

Our guest, at the center of everything, becomes the protagonist as well as an active part of a route
of comparison and cultural growth.

I think that Civita is a life experience...the thin bridge that connects it to the frenzy,
materiality, often to incivility of modern life must be a traveling with yourself to discover
an extraordinary village, to understand and respect...Alma Civita tries to be instead the
bridge that connects our soul, to the soul of an unic place.

This for me is...Alma Civita.

FAMILY ROCCHI BECOME OWNER OF TWO OF THESE SEVEN MILLS IN TOWN

In the sixteenth century the family Rocchi becomes the owner of two of the seven mills present in the town, used for the production of one of the most valuable resources and representative of these lands, olive oil. Caravans of mules and horses, accompanied by folk songs, brought in Civita from the surrounding valleys, bags and baskets filled olives which would then produced "the green gold" already known and appreciated by the pre-Roman civilization.

CONTINUE PRODUCTION AT THE OLD MILL

The same family continued the production at the old mill for the following centuries until the 1950 when the devastation caused by the second World War pushed the residents to abandon their roots to start a new life in the growing Bagnoregio.

THE NEW BRIDGE

In 1965 it built the new bridge that finally gives new life to a dying community.
It’s in this period that some of the old families decide to come back to live in their ancient home...Civita.

REOPEN THE OLD MILL

In 1990 Sandro Rocchi, after long work of restoration, reopen the Antico Frantoio.
It is in this timeless place that for about 20 years Sandro and his wife Maria Teresa with passion and humility, offered to the many guests the opportunity to discover which was the production of oil in antiquity, combining the visit to a tasting of local products.

A NEW PROJECT

In 2011, after more than twenty years of activity, the attention and passion of the family Rocchi, converge on a new project. This is the synergy of ALMA CIVITA, which became reality with aggregation, in the same location of architecture and catering.
At the begin of February then decided to take a new path by restored one of the oldest buildings used in medieval time like a tower to protect the city. The idea grows with the knowledge that architecture is primarily manipulation of space for man and for his life.
